Teamsters Show Strength at CSU Trustee Meeting
We Are Teamster Strong!
Teamsters Local 2010 gave California State University its first glimpse of Teamster power yesterday, as dozens of members converged on the CSU Board of Trustees meeting yesterday in support of wage reopener negotiations.
“We need to make sure our workers are fairly compensated for the work that they do,” Jason Rabinowitz, Local 2010 Secretary-Treasurer, told the Trustees. “We need to make sure we protect our benefits, our retirement and our medical coverage…. CSU is one of the largest employers in the state and should be creating and maintaining good jobs in our community.”
The speakers also touched on the many issues affecting our members such as workload, pensions, and the ever-rising trend of contracting out.
“We showed our power here today,” said Hector Fernandez, Teamsters Local 2010 Skilled Trades Director. “We are ready to work with the Cal State to obtain the best contract but will not accept anything less than a fair agreement that benefits our members.”
Our CSU Skilled Trades workers are in wage reopener negotiations and will be in negotiations for a successor contract in 2019.
Thank you to everyone who came out. This is only the first step in our campaign to win fair wages for our members in the Cal State.
