UC Merced Bargaining Team Urges Community-First Approach

Our UC Merced Bargaining Team met at the Chancellor hiring committee Town Hall meeting Oct. 1 to give input on what qualities our new Chancellor should ideally have.

The team also traveled to Fresno to attend the seminar, Building the Valley: Development Partnerships for Equitable Economic Development. Local 2010 members spoke with Senator Maria Elena Durazo regarding the Merced 2020 project and contract negotiations.

The next day, our Merced Bargaining Team concentrated on improvements to Article 10 in our contract, which details Training and Development. We also tackled Health and Safety and we were able to get an increase in the amount of money an employee is reimbursed for safety shoes. We are getting closer to tackling economic articles such as hours of work and wages.
