Teamsters Establish Fund to Assist Family of Member Who Died Due to COVID-19

Teamsters Local 2010 has established a Memorial Fund to assist the family of member Emmanuel Gomez, who died from COVID-19 on April 24. The Teamsters Union will donate more than $10,000 to the fund, and members and others may also donate.

Emmanuel Gomez was an electrician at UCLA and a Skilled Trades member of Teamsters Local 2010. His primary work location was Ronald Reagan Medical Center, which has treated a number of COVID-19 patients. Emmanuel was working overtime during the pandemic to keep the hospital running to serve the patients. Emmanuel leaves behind a wife and three sons.

Our Union thanks Skilled Trades member at UCLA, Oscar Gonzalez, who set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for Emmanuel’s family, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Gomez family.

Those who wish to donate to the Teamsters fund may mail a check made out to Teamsters Local 2010 to 400 Roland Way, Suite 2010, Oakland, CA 94621. Please note “Emmanuel Gomez Memorial Fund” on your check. Emmanuel’s family will receive 100% of the proceeds of the Teamsters Memorial Fund.

We thank all the members who have contributed for their generosity. We also thank Teamsters Joint Councils 42 and 7 which have pledged contributions, along with Teamsters Local 2010. We ask all members to keep Emmanuel and his family in your hearts and prayers.
