Today, we honor the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who dedicated his life to challenging the oppression of Black people in America. He forged positive relationships with other marginalized groups which resulted in Americans being able to pursue the American dream. Dr. King’s legacy endures, in a moment of national racial, political and social injustice which continues to plague American society.
The way we can continue to honor Dr. King is through the work of the Union movement. Every day is a day of service defending the rights of the working class. Teamsters Local 2010 continues to help those who are still suffering under discrimination and injustice. As Dr. King stated, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Dr. king fought for workers’ rights, social justice, and economic change within American society. Let us move into this new year with a renewed sense of purpose. As proud members of the Union movement, we have a charge to continue empowering one another, bridging barriers, strengthening our communities and creating innovative solutions for everyone.
