CSU TRADES TA: 7.12% wage increase, $5407 lump-sum payment Oct. 1, fight continues to win steps

Over the course of fighting for this contract extension, we stood together as Teamsters and took action like never before. We stickered-up, marched, and picketed at all 22 campuses. We spoke at all Board of Trustees meetings. And nearly 90 of us participated in a lobby day in Sacramento.

If ratified, this Tentative Agreement (TA) will give us an immediate, substantial raise, and put badly needed cash in our pockets while we continue to fight for the salary steps that the CSU Salary Study showed are necessary.

Our Bargaining Team recommends a YES vote on this contract extension. A NO vote would mean we don’t get any salary increases or lump sum payments now and we prepare to go on strike later this year. Our Bargaining Team believes this contract extension with raises places us in the best position to continue our fight for fair pay at CSU.

  • 7.12% total compounded raise effective July 1, 2022.
  • $5,407 one-time recognition bonus and retro payment, comprised of $2,907 one time payment in lieu of retro pay to July 2021, plus a $2,500 lump sum payment (pro-rated for those working less than full-time).
  • Improved language on apprentices, allowing greater opportunity for successful apprentices to secure jobs at the CSU and improve staffing.
  • One-year contract extension until June 30, 2023, giving us more time to fight for the return of step increases while our Bargaining Team can quickly return to bargaining additional GSIs and important contract language improvements.
  • Updated language for catastrophic leave to include natural disasters.
  • Also on the September payroll, we will receive an additional retro payment for the July and August 2022 7.12% wage increase, averaging $800+ per member.
