Our elected K4-Unit Bargaining Team is unanimously voting yes on the adoption of the Tentative Agreement reached with the University of California on July 22, 2022. After months of tough negotiations, building Teamster power, and conducting worksite actions, we’ve achieved the best deal possible for the 600 Skilled Trades workers at UCLA, as we face an uncertain future.

“I am proud to be part of this phenomenal Bargaining Team. Through the months and late nights of hard work, we have finally gotten to the end point and let me say that it’s a great contract! I will be voting yes!”
– Arturo Alvarez

– Ken Kaidin

“I vote yes and feel that this contract reflects what happens when we come together.”

– Jeffrey Sharp

“I’m voting YES!”
– Jesus Manzo

“Our Bargaining Team listened to you, our members, and based on what you said, we developed our proposals. UCLA Skilled Trade workers won a solid ratification bonus and pay increases over the next four years because of your participation in picket lines and other actions. Training, for many, was a major issue. Our Bargaining Team proposed paid time for employees to attend classes and workshops and up to $500 yearly to cover the cost of the programs. UCLA agreed to pay for pre-approved required training and licenses to attain certification and re-certification. We fought to expand hazard pay and won a weekend differential. We added eight new job titles – which our Union has fought for or fought over for years. We listened to you and UCLA listened to us. This was the first contract Teamsters negotiated from beginning to end. Contracts improve over time, and this was a great step forward.”
 Judith Serlin, Union Representative
