Our Teamsters Bargaining Team will soon begin preparations to enter into contract negotiations with CSU in October. The Northern region of CSU East Bay, CSU San Francisco, CSU San Jose and CSU Monterey needs to elect a new Bargaining Team representative to fill the seat of Robert Olson, a painter at CSU San Jose, who has stepped down.

Voting will be held in-person at each of the Northern campuses at the following dates and times:

  • September 26 – CSU San Francisco
    • 12:00 PM, Carpenter Shop
  • October 3 – CSU East Bay
    • 12:00 PM, Carpenter Shop
  • October 4 – CSU San Jose
    • 11:30 AM, Carpenter Shop
  • October 17- CSU Monterey
    • 12:00 PM, Facilities Corp Yard Garage

Any member who is unable to make it to the in-person vote at their campus may request an electronic ballot from Union Rep Jose Fuentes at jfuentes@teamsters2010.org. Electronic voting will close at 5:00 PM on October 17.

Read statements from both candidates for the Bargaining Team below:

Debbie Elia

I am Debbie Elia and I have worked for San Francisco State University for nearly 15 years. I worked through the ranks, starting as a Facilities Worker II, then served as a Maintenance Mechanic, and now I’m the Facilities Project Supervisor for Housing. I have been the Chief Steward for housing for 10 of the last 15 years, and for the last three years I have served on the Local 2010 Skilled Trades Board.

I am asking for your vote so I can serve on the negotiating team for our new contract. I believe I will be an asset to the team. I have won many Union grievances, and I promise to keep fighting for better language, benefits and steps in our new contract.

Thank you, Debbie Elia

Aaron Flores

My name is Aaron Flores. I am a Union Steward with the Teamsters, Unit 6 at San Jose State University. My commitment to help support my fellow Teamsters and protect our safety and our rights to fair compensation is very important to me. I believe taking time to stay involved in union business ensures all members have a voice. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with the negotiating team. I will use this opportunity to further the interest of our members, and keep working to maintain a safe workplace and fair compensation for all of our hard work.

Thank you,
