Following our strikes in November and December, Teamsters Local 2010 has called a five-day unfair labor practice strike of our 1,100 skilled trades members at California State University from Jan. 22 to 26, in coalition with the California Faculty Association (CFA).
Despite the critical work CSU Teamsters do to keep the University safe and maintained, CSU continues to treat workers unfairly. CSU has repeatedly bargained in bad faith with us and ignores our demands for a real salary step system to resolve the decades of wage stagnation affecting CSU Teamsters, just like they ignore Faculty demands for better pay, workload support, and health and safety rights.
CSU Teamsters will be on the picket lines across the state from Jan. 22 to Jan. 26 and we invite every UC Teamster to join in solidarity. On approved time off, on your lunch break, or before or after your work hours, stand with our brothers and sisters at your nearest picket line and help us show the CSU our power as a Union!
“CSU workers are fed up with the University’s unfair labor practices and refusal to show real appreciation for our hard work and sacrifice that has made the University successful. CSU can afford to be fair with workers, and Teamsters are standing together and ready to take effective strike action to make CSU bargain in good faith for the fair contract we deserve!”
Jason Rabinowitz, Secretary-Treasurer
By striking, we will demonstrate the strength of our solidarity and powerfully protest the stagnant wages and lack of salary steps that have affected CSU staff for almost 30 years. The CSU’s insulting and substandard wage proposals show that they do not care that dedicated workers are underpaid, understaffed, and unsupported.
