Meet our newest Local 2010 staff and officers!

As our Union membership continues to grow, so does our Union staff and leadership team, dedicated to fighting for every Teamsters 2010 member across the state! Local 2010 is proud to announce that CSU San Bernardino Chief Steward Ernesto Torres is our new Union Vice President, and that Ali Tweini, known to many as our Union’s Recording Secretary, now joins our staff full-time as Political Director for Local 2010!

Ernesto Torres, Vice President of Local 2010

Ernesto Torres is a facilities project supervisor at CSU San Bernardino. He has served as a steward and chief steward since 2019, advocating for Local 2010 members and enforcing our rights. As a bargaining team member for Teamsters 2010 Unit 6 Skilled Trades at CSU during their 2023 contract campaign, Ernesto says he is proud to have helped restore salary step raises after a nearly 30 years absence—a hard-fought victory for workers.

Ernesto’s passion for the labor movement led him to return to school to earn a certificate in labor studies, strengthening his commitment to working people. Ernesto is a champion on the bullhorn, has joined many workplace actions like pickets and rallies, went on strike with Unit 6 in 2023, and fought against unfair labor practices to secure better contracts and working conditions. “It is an honor to continue this fight, and I remain dedicated to building a better future for all workers,” Ernesto says.

Ali Tweini, Political Director of Local 2010

Ali Tweini has been a dedicated community activist throughout his adult life. He studied Marketing Management at Los Angeles City College and Cal State University Los Angeles. Before joining the University Of California, Los Angeles in 2011, Tweini previously worked in the private sector Health Information field at Cedars Sinai Health System. Since joining Local 2010, he has been involved in every aspect of our Union; first becoming a steward and most recently our Political Coordinator. Ali was elected Recording Secretary of Teamsters Local 2010 in 2013 and is motivated by his deep commitment to justice and equality for all workers.

“Politics affects many aspects of our daily lives,” Ali says. “To effectively protect our work and our interests, we must elevate our collective voices and stay involved in local, state, and federal politics. Our power is critical to economic equality and the stability of the communities that we live and work in.”
