Dear UCSB Skilled Trades Teamsters,
We are proud to announce that nominations are now being accepted for an opening on our K8 Bargaining Team! In accordance with Article 38 of our Union contract, our Teamsters Bargaining Team will consist of four rank-and-file members. Bargaining Team members must be a steward, with two coming from FM and two coming from Housing. These members will embody the best of our Union and will represent the interests of the all 92 Teamsters Skilled Trades members at UCSB.
Bargaining Team
Each member of the Bargaining Team will commit to represent the interests of all members, regardless of trade or shop. Each member in good standing may vote for one Bargaining Team member that will be elected from Housing. The other three rank-and-file Bargaining Team members are current stewards Andrew Taff (FM), Mike Tosta (FM), and Eddy Melendez (Housing).
Nominations
Nominations begin today and will be accepted through Monday, May 5 at 5:00 PM. If you would like to nominate a colleague for the K8 Bargaining Team, fill out the nomination form and submit it to Union Rep Larry Young at lyoung@teamsters2010.org or fax it to (562) 376-4709.
Nominations must be made by a member in good standing other than the nominee, seconded by a member in good standing other than the nominee, and accepted by the nominee. Prospective candidates are encouraged to verify the good standing status of their nominator and seconder as part of the nominations process by submitting a written request to the Secretary-Treasurer, address Teamsters Local 2010, 7730 Pardee Lane, Suite 2010, Oakland, California 94621.
Elections and Voting
All Teamsters Local 2010 members in good standing by the payment of dues through the month of April 2025, are eligible to run for the Bargaining Team and may nominate or second the nomination of others. All potential candidates are encouraged to check their eligibility prior to nominating or seconding. All nominees must complete the nomination form including the pledge regarding the duties of team members.
The Bargaining Team election will be conducted in person, by paper ballot, on Wednesday, May 7. The ballots will be counted at the end of the meetings and the total results emailed to members on Thursday, May 8.
