Roughly 12,000 administrative support workers at the University of California joined with the Teamsters in the year 2010, thus forming what is now Teamsters Local 2010. Coming up on our 10-year anniversary as Teamsters, we have many victories under our collective belt. Recently, we fought a proposal by the UC Board of Regents to raise our retirement contribution by 1.5%, in spite of the fact that we’re already paying more into our retirement than most state workers. We’ve won strong contracts with significant guaranteed raises and benefits, defended hundreds of workers jobs and rights at work, won thousands upon thousands of dollars in back pay and bonuses for members denied the pay or work they deserved, and aggressively protected our right to engage together in our Union and fight for our rights at work!
At least 1,000 Administrative Officer 2 workers at UC campuses and medical centers across the state joined Teamsters Local 2010 effective Sept. 30, 2020 and immediately began receiving the benefits and workplace protections of our CX Contract, including the 3 percent raise scheduled for July 2021. Negotiations on wage tables and pay step placement began in January 2021.
Just over 300 Skilled Trades workers at UC Davis campus and Health joined Teamsters Local 2010 on Nov. 17, 2020. These workers have tried to gain Union representation several times in past years and will finally have a voice in their workplace.
