Worker Roundup November 2019

Teamsters 2010 Worker Roundup!

Teamsters Local 2010 members are fighting the UC Board of Regents’  proposal to increase the employee contribution to the retirement investment accounts by 1.5 percent. We can’t afford any cut in take-home pay AND we were not a part of the Regents’ decision to suspend retirement contributions for 20 years!

Union members, including Teamsters 2010, traveled multiple times to Sacramento to encourage lawmaker support Assembly Bill 5. According to The New York Times, the landmark bill “requires companies like Uber and Lyft to treat contract workers as employees, a move that could reshape the gig economy and that adds fuel to a year’s long debate over whether the nature of work has become too insecure.”
