K4 Teamsters Declare Impasse with UCLA!

Last Tuesday, July 28, our Teamsters K4 Bargaining Team met with UCLA in the hopes of finally reaching an agreement for UCLA Teamsters. Unfortunately, UCLA once again offered wages that categorically failed to meet the needs of the Skilled Trades workers who keep one of the country’s best universities running. Following weeks of this inflexibility from UCLA on wages, our member-elected Bargaining Team was forced to declare an impasse.

Now that impasse has been declared, the bargaining teams will next meet with a state-appointed mediator at a date to be scheduled. In the meantime, our Bargaining Team is preparing for rallies and actions that every K4 Teamsters worker can join over the next few weeks to show UCLA that we won’t take their insults lying down!

We hope that we can reach a deal soon with the help of a mediator. During our conversation on Tuesday, UCLA showed progress in their wage proposal and listened with attention to the many examples our team provided of the challenges K4 workers face daily. Despite these challenges, our members report to work every day of the year to provide the best service possible for UCLA’s students, patients, and staff. We deserve pay equal to the quality of our work!

“Our team will not accept that our work is not worth the raises that other UCLA workers have received. We are highly trained workers, and many of us must maintain certifications and licenses through continued education in our field. Our pay should reflect the expertise, risk and commitment that goes into our work every day.”
