UC Davis K3 Teamsters Bargaining Update, August 24, 2026

All this month, our UC Davis Teamsters Bargaining Team has worked to secure agreements on our non-economic contract articles so that we can concentrate on what matters most: negotiating fair wages and benefits for every K3 worker. Thanks to that work, we presented our first wage proposal to the UC at the end of July, proposing across-the-board raises for every member and the elimination of all salary step systems.

During our bargaining session on August 21, the UC responded with an inadequate, lowball wage proposal that does not meet the needs of Skilled Trades workers. The University’s proposal, included in full at the bottom of this email, wants to return K3 workers to the days before Union representation, when our raises depended entirely on performance evaluations and our manager’s whims.

Our Bargaining Team told UC Davis that this was an unacceptable proposal and that the UC must do better. We countered with a proposal that included real across-the-board raises and the elimination of all step systems by the fourth year of the contract, with no raises contingent on performance evaluations.

Help our Bargaining Team bring the fight to the UC by wearing your “UC Runs on Skilled Trades” sticker at work! Wear your sticker, snap a photo, and text it to 415-603-1708 to be included in our campaign on our Teamsters 2010 social media accounts.

If the UC continues to present inadequate wage proposals like this one, our unit is prepared to escalate the fight with petitions, lunchtime rallies, and, if need be, a strike. Get ready to take action by becoming a member of our Union today!

“It is now apparent that the interests and economic vision of the University couldn’t lie further from the bottom line and reality of our members. Adding insult to the injury of an incredibly lowball wage offer, they proposed a reinstatement of merit-based raises, which would effectively revert our collective achievements to the pre-contract dark ages. We will agree to no part of the current proposal as it stands. It will be an uphill fight from here though, and I would encourage my fellow K3 members to step back and evaluate what they stand to lose should our employer achieve anything close to this initial offer.”
