UC Davis K3 Teamsters Bargaining Update, August 31, 2026

Negotiations continued between our elected Teamsters Bargaining Team and UC Davis last week on August 27 and 28. The teams exchanged proposals on three articles—Article 1 – Apprenticeship Program, Article 12 – Holidays, and Article 36 – Shift Differential—and our Bargaining Team additionally submitted our proposal on Article 17 – Leave of Absence.

In a win for members, our team and UC Davis reached a tentative agreement on Article 11 – Health and Safety, securing an increase in our boot allowance beginning July 1, 2027. Our Team was clear that we would not compromise on safety in the workplace and the UC listened!

The UC has told us they will present their next wages proposal and their first health and benefits proposal during our next bargaining session on Sept. 3. Ahead of that, we encourage every K3 Teamsters member to show their support for our Bargaining Team and our Union by wearing their UC Runs on Skilled Trades sticker at work! If you would like to join the many Teamsters who have already show support by wearing your own sticker, reach out to Union Rep Jose Fuentes by replying to this email.

Thank you to every member who has stickered up already!

“It is now apparent that the interests and economic vision of the University couldn’t lie further from the bottom line and reality of our members. Adding insult to the injury of an incredibly lowball wage offer, they proposed a reinstatement of merit-based raises, which would effectively revert our collective achievements to the pre-contract dark ages. We will agree to no part of the current proposal as it stands. It will be an uphill fight from here though, and I would encourage my fellow K3 members to step back and evaluate what they stand to lose should our employer achieve anything close to this initial offer.”
