AALA/Teamsters—
Our affiliation with Teamsters Local 2010 has already met and exceeded every expectation. We’ve brought more power to the bargaining table, united with our fellow LAUSD unions, and won historic contracts with fair raises and ground-breaking new policies for workloads and flex time. When LAUSD said no, we got to work—and we won!
Our powerful new Certificated and Classified contracts are secured, but our work isn’t done. When negotiations reopen in January for our 2027 raises, we need to show the same, if not more, strength and solidarity we displayed in our contract fight this spring. This December will mark two years since we voted to join Teamsters Local 2010 and we’re now stronger and more powerful than ever. We can’t risk losing our Teamsters power one month before bargaining begins.
Through our Teamsters affiliation, we also established new member benefits—most importantly our AALA/Teamsters Legal Services Program, which provides free attorney representation for members whose credentials or jobs are at risk, and a $1 million insurance policy for administrators facing litigation arising from their jobs. Our Teamsters charity provided critical financial assistance to dozens of our members who faced devastating losses in the January 2025 fires.
AALA made a promise to members when we affiliated with Teamsters 2010 in December 2024 that we would engage in a second affiliation vote within two years of the affiliation. The time is now for that second vote. As we prepare for negotiations in January 2027 on salary, we will survey our members for input on a second article of our choice to take to the bargaining table.

We need to return to negotiations in January with all of the strength we’ve built so far as AALA/Teamsters. We’ve shown we have what it takes to fight like Teamsters. Now let’s finish our affiliation and get to work!
