Teamsters stand in solidarity with UC Academic Workers!

Teamsters Local 2010 proudly supports our Union siblings at UC Student-Workers Union UAW 2865, UAW Local 5810, and Student Researchers United-UAW as they prepare to strike against the UC. More than 36,000 postdocs, graduate student researchers, teaching assistants, and graders voted overwhelmingly on November 2 to authorize a strike. Unless the UC decides to return to the table and bargain in good faith, 48,000 UAW Academic Workers will walk off the job on November 14.

UAW workers have been bargaining since Spring 2021 for living wages, childcare subsidies, and job security. More than 92% of UAW Graduate Workers and 61% of UAW Postdoctoral Scholars report being rent-burdened, with 40% of Graduate Workers reporting that they spend half or more of their income on rent. UAW Academic Workers are critical to the undergraduate teaching and world-class research on which the UC’s reputation depends. UC must stop their bad-faith bargaining and pay Academic Workers a living wage!

Teamsters 2010 stands in solidarity with UAW Academic Workers as they fight for a UC system that is equitable for all. Send a message to UC President Drake at the link below and show your support for UAW workers.
