As Local 2010 honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we remember him not only as a champion of racial justice, but also as a powerful advocate for economic dignity and the rights of working people.

Dr. King knew that civil rights without workers’ rights is an unfinished promise — and that true freedom requires fair wages, safe workplaces, and the right to organize without fear. In his final days, he stood with sanitation workers in Memphis demanding fair treatment and economic security that echoes today in the fight against inequality, greed, and systems that place profit over people.

Honoring Dr. King’s legacy means more than remembering his words, it means continuing the work he gave his life for. Every stand we take for fair pay, equity, and safe working conditions carries his vision forward.

Together, Local 2010 will honor Dr. King’s dream — through our solidarity, our organizing, and our shared belief that an injury to ONE is an injury to ALL.
