District Message — What Does This Mean For Us? (AALA / Teamsters Local 2010)

Early April 12, the District announced a tentative agreement with United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) — a two-year deal that raises salary schedules by 11.65% and moves the starting teacher salary to $77,000.

Shortly after that announcement, Labor Relations reached out to us to indicate that a salary proposal is now being prepared for our unit.

Our Collective Bargaining Teams will meet at 3:00 PM today to carefully review, discuss, and collaborate on this proposal with one goal in mind: reaching a fair contract settlement that honors the courage, resilience, and unity you have shown.

As soon as we have more information, you will receive a Breaking News Update.

We also understand that Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is meeting with the District today. What we are witnessing is the power of a united labor coalition. When we stand together, the District listens. When we move together, the District responds.

This moment did not happen by accident.

It happened because 90% of you voted YES to authorize a strike.

It happened because you trusted your union.

It happened because you stood firm, you stood together, and you refused to be overlooked.

Your courage at that vote changed the tone at the bargaining table. Your unity shifted the balance of power. Your perseverance made this moment possible.

Please understand this clearly: you have already made an impact.

Now, we approach this proposal with hopestrength, and resilience, committed to securing a contract that reflects:

  • Fair and equitable compensation
  • Respect and dignity for AALA administrators
  • The staffing and resources our schools need
  • Recognition that we are essential human capital in this system

Our students, families, and communities benefit when those who lead and serve in our schools are valued and supported.

Thank you for your unwavering solidarity. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your resilience.

We are closer than ever to a contract settlement — and to avoiding a strike — because of you.

One Vision. One Voice. One Victory.

In Solidarity,

Maria
