On Jan. 5, our Teamsters Bargaining Team did not meet with management, but spent the day in caucus session reviewing and writing contract proposals. On Jan. 6, Teamsters and UCSD exchanged the following proposals but did not reach any Tentative Agreements during this bargaining session.

Article 13 Sick Leave (proposed by UCSD)
UCSD proposed Article clean-up language that will update current language to be consistent with Federal and State Laws. (Union Attorney to review language changes.)

Current Contract Language. There is no change proposed for this Article.

Article 42 Apprenticeship Program (Proposed by Teamsters)
Teamsters proposed adding the Irrigation Mechanic apprentice classification to Article 42. Teamsters proposed creation of two separate Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, one committee for the campus side and one committee for the health side.

Current Contract Language. There is no change proposed for this Article.

Appendix A-1 Side Letter Agreement “Campus Apprenticeship Program” (Proposed by Teamsters)
Teamsters proposed changes to the current Side Letter Agreement that would expand access for all campus departments to utilize the Article 42 Apprenticeship Program.

Appendix A-2 Side Letter Agreement “Health Apprenticeship Program” (Proposed by Teamsters)
Teamsters proposed an identical copy of the Appendix A-1 side letter agreement to expand access to all health departments to utilize the Article 42 Apprenticeship Program

Appendix B Side Letter Agreement “Pay for Family Care and Bonding” (proposed by UCSD)

Current Contract Language. There is no change proposed for this Article.

Our next negotiations with management are scheduled for Jan. 22- 23.

Note: All Tentative Agreements (TA) made between UCSD Management, and our Bargaining Team must be ratified by a majority vote of Teamsters K6 Unit Skilled Trades members through a ratification vote at the conclusion of negotiations.
