K8 Bargaining Update: Teamsters push for fair benefits, wages!

arrow leftGo Back

On June 30 and July 1, our UCSB Skilled Trades Bargaining Team returned to the table prepared to discuss our demands for fair wages and benefits. Especially in light of recent agreements won by AFSCME, UPTE, and our Teamster brothers and sisters in the CX Clerical Unit, plus a very reasonable benefits proposal made by UCLA leadership to  UCLA Skilled Trades Teamsters, it’s time for UCSB to play fair with K8 Skilled Trades workers.

Management says they are anxious to get to an agreement, however they continue to stall on giving us a benefits proposal. It’s been more than a month since we made our last proposal, but management still hopes to force our members to absorb the full costs of healthcare—no matter how expensive it gets.

Management also continues to propose wage increases that don’t keep up with inflation. This is an outrage when they clearly have provided generous proposals to our union sisters and brothers around the UC system

We made incremental progress, reaching agreement on a couple of articles, bringing our contract nearly 90% of the way there.

We need to push management hard to reach a final deal. This means, we need you!

Our Bargaining Team will next meet with management on July 15, 16, and 17. Join our next chapter meeting in July 15 and our rally on July 22 to show UCSB management that we’re Union Strong!

Our Bargaining Team has scheduled a rally to demand fair raises and benefits for our hard work. More information to come, but mark your calendar now!

Join us for important campus, bargaining, and Union updates at our next UCSB Skilled Trades chapter meeting!
