UCLA Continues Disrespectful Lowball Raise Proposals

When our Teamsters Skilled Trades Bargaining Team met with UCLA management the last week of June, we had high hopes that we would come away with a Tentative Agreement on a new contract. However, when it comes to providing wages that are on par with what other unions, including our brothers and sisters in the CX Bargaining Unit have all received, UCLA said that they compare us to non-represented employees, who will receive a 4% raise this year.

UCLA says we are worth less than other Union members, but our team continues to insist that we deserve pay equal to our work!

More than 250 Teamsters rallied in front of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, July 8, sending a strong message that we will not accept anything less than a contract with raises that are on par with other Union workers going into our next session on Monday, July 13.

The employer did finally respond with healthcare caps that will protect our members from runaway increases in premiums.

“Our members keep UCLA campus, medical centers and student housing safe and maintained. We come into work every day and provide work that is essential to management, faculty and staff being able to perform their jobs and students being able to learn. Why not us?”
