Unit 6 Teamsters Declare Impasse as CSU Rejects Demand to Pay July 2025 Raises

On Oct. 23, our Teamsters Unit 6 Bargaining Team met with CSU regarding its failure to provide agreed-upon raises in July 2025. CSU shamefully continued to refuse to meet their obligations under our contract and proposed a one-time 3% lump sum payment on the condition that we withdraw our challenges to their illegal actions. CSU’s proposal would result in our members losing out on the significant raises that permanently build up our salaries that our contract required to be paid in July 2025 for a one-time check. Our team, of course, rejected this insulting, lowball offer.

Our Bargaining Team countered with the demand that CSU provide our members with all their earned and contractually promised raises, retroactive to July 1, 2025, with penalties and interest.

CSU negotiators immediately rejected this demand and failed to make a counter-proposal. As a result, our Union declared that the parties are at impasse and has requested that a State-sanctioned mediator review the dispute. We will continue to provide updates on the impasse and mediation process. Teamsters Unit 6 Bargaining Update

6:00 PM Tuesday, Oct. 28

The CSU management team, through their actions and attitude, made clear the CSU’s lack of respect for our Union and members. Their lead negotiator mocked our challenges to their failure to pay the July raises and repeatedly claimed that our union is lying about the CSU breaking its promises to our members, even as they continued to propose not providing agreed-upon contractual raises. They also continued to misrepresent the State budget support to the CSU, claiming the CSU’s budget was reduced despite State legislators and the Governor being clear that there was no budget cut.

We will not stand for this clear and ongoing lack of respect for the critical work Unit 6 workers do to keep the CSU running. Join us on at 6:00PM Oct. 28 to learn more, ask questions, and hear next steps in our fight for respect and fair pay at the CSU.

In Solidarity,

Our CSU Teamsters Bargaining Team:
