Our Union has won a major victory for the hard-working Teamsters of UCLA Health! As part of California’s 2022 Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility COVID-19 Retention Payment program, the UC committed to paying health care workers employed from July 30, 2022, to October 28, 2022, a retention payment of up to $1,500 depending on their total hours worked. However, UC failed to pay hundreds of eligible Teamsters workers at UCLA, forcing our Union to stage escalating actions that culminated in filing a class action lawsuit. That lawsuit has settled, and the UC agreed to make the payments!
Eligible CX Teamsters who did not receive their health care retention payments in 2023 will receive $1,500 if they worked full-time during the eligibility period and $1,250 if they worked part-time. The timeline for payment will be determined later this year: We’ll keep members updated as dates are set!

“Teamsters Local 2010 took on UC and forced it to pay the thousands of dollars it illegally withheld from workers. Greedy employers take note: if you try to skirt your obligations and rip off workers, our Union will fight you tooth and nail until you pay us what we deserve!“
