Over the past four months, we have met with UC’s management team to negotiate the step placement of Payroll Analyst I–IV into a Teamsters title.
During the bargaining process, proposals are exchanged as both sides work toward reaching an agreement. We have submitted six proposals, making significant movement from our initial salary placement request. In contrast, UC has made very limited movement, only submitting three proposals, all insultingly low-ball.
After these continued delays and UCOP’s unwillingness to make meaningful movement at the bargaining table, we believe the time has come to use our strength as a Union to hold UC accountable and fight for the strong raises our members deserve!
UCOP has already delayed the updated CX contract retroactive payments by 6–8 weeks and is now failing to make reasonable proposals during our bargaining sessions.
We are starting with a petition to show UC that Payroll Analysts are serious about receiving the fair and equitable pay they deserve. Sign your name at the link below to make your voice heard and show UC that we are ready to take action.
“In my experience participating in these bargaining sessions, I have seen firsthand the lack of urgency UC has shown in implementing these increases and the impact this delay has on employees waiting for the compensation they deserve,” said Yadira Bonilla, a Payroll Analyst 2 at UC Riverside and Bargaining Team Member. “UC’s proposals fall significantly below current market rates and fail to recognize the value of the work Payroll Analysts perform or the economic realities our members face. As a single mother relying on one income, these delays are creating significant financial hardship for me personally and highlight the very real impact this process is having on our members.”
We will continue to keep members informed as bargaining progresses and will provide updates as soon as they become available.
