Tomorrow, Nov. 6 at 4:00 PM, AALA / Teamsters principals and administrators will rally alongside thousands of Los Angeles Unified School District educators, food service workers, custodians, teaching assistants, school safety officers, school site construction workers, and other education workers at five separate LAUSD locations.

Members from all eight LAUSD unions are coming together to demand fair contracts that strengthen school stability and protect students from the risks of disinvestment. Workers are calling for smaller class sizes, fully staffed counseling and support services, expanded arts and academic programs, stronger support for immigrant students and families, and safe, well-maintained campuses.

At the same time, workers are sounding the alarm over LAUSD’s proposal to pass on future healthcare cost increases to employees — a move workers say amounts to a pay cut and breaks decades of trust. Despite uncertainty about their own healthcare and pay, LAUSD employees who show up for students every day are urging LAUSD to stop hoarding its $5 billion in reserves and invest in schools and respect its workers.
