Teamsters Local 2010 and the UC Coalition of Unions submitted a letter to President Drake and the Board of Regents on Jan. 10, demanding the UC act fast to protect workers from COVID-19.

In the face of the highest case counts of the pandemic so far, the UC must provide additional COVID-19 leave to workers, extend leave programs to new employees, continue leave programs through at least the end of 2022, and take other urgent steps to protect our health during the omicron variant surge.

Teamsters 2010 submitted the letter together with AFSCME 3299, CIR/SEIU, CNA, CUCFA, UAPD, UAW 2865, UAW 5810, UC-AFT, and UPTE-CWA. UC’s COVID leave programs have been critical to protecting workers and their families, and with case counts continuing to rise across the state, it’s essential that these programs are maintained instead of asking workers to come to work infected or sick.
