Our UC Davis Skilled Trades Teamsters Bargaining Team met with UC Davis over the last two weeks to continue negotiations for our K3 successor contract. The teams exchanged proposals on Article 5 – Classification and Reclassifications, Article 28 – Positions and Appointments, New Article – Seniority, and New Article – Emergency Situations and our Teamsters Bargaining Team made our first wage proposal to the University.
Secretary-Treasurer Jason Rabinowitz joined our team to submit the proposal, and Union Researcher Alex Vermie presented his research showing that UC Davis workers are paid considerably below prevailing wage for our work, even as UC Davis’ budget (and pay for managers) has risen over the years.
Our Bargaining Team is now waiting for the University to reply to all of our economics proposals. In August, we expect to receive their counteroffer on wages and their proposal on health benefits. UCD Teamsters must be prepared to act if the University fails to provide adequate proposals on wages and healthcare!
Our Bargaining Team is working hard to secure a new contract before our current contract expires. But we need the help of every K3 worker to get it done—if you are not yet a member, please sign up now!

“It is a pleasure to continue as a member of the Bargaining Team for UC Davis K3 workers’ second contract. With a strong collaboration between Campus and Medical Center members of the Bargaining Team, we are forging a stronger contract for all K3 members. The K3 employee’s work and dedication is the foundation of the continual growth of UC Davis and UC Davis Health.”

Bargaining Team Member, Medical Center
Our Union will be reaching to members to start planning actions on campus soon and there will be a membership meeting in August to give more updates on bargaining. Look out for more details of the meeting to be sent out soon.
Thank you for standing with us as we fight for fair wages and benefits for all K3 workers!
