We’re gearing up for biggest strike in CSU history.

When Teamsters hit the picket lines from Feb. 17-20, we’ll be making history—and not for the first time. Our last strike was the biggest labor action CSU had seen in a generation.

When tens of thousands of CSU employees headed to the picket lines in the Winter 2023 it was Teamsters—militant, united, and proud—who led the way. We turned up at 5:00 AM to shut down construction sites. We stopped package delivery, trash pickup, and other Union work with the help of our Teamsters siblings. We took on the country’s largest public university system together with our fellow Unions—and we won.

Before our strike, CSU said there wasn’t any money. They said they couldn’t possibly pay dedicated Skilled Trades workers the wages we’d earned. They said we didn’t have a chance. After our strike, CSU workers got a minimum 9% raise in two years. Some workers, their salaries stagnant for more than a decade, saw their paychecks increase by 14% within nine months of ratification.  Across the state, people read about, listened to, and watched us win.

Our strike this month, Feb. 17 to 20, will be bigger and more powerful than anything we’ve done before. We’re getting ready for the first week-long, statewide strike in CSU history.

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, our Teamsters Bargaining Team starts the formal factfinding process with CSU. The initial hearing, held that Tuesday, is a public sector dispute resolution process triggered when bargaining reaches an impasse. A neutral panel reviews evidence, hears testimony, and issues non-binding recommendations—often made public—to help resolve the impasse.

It’s the next step before a strike, and the next point at which CSU can decided against messing with Teamsters. As CSU knows: When Teamsters fight, Teamsters win.

Tuesday, February 17: See you on the picket lines.
