Teamster bills move forward on unanimous votes!

In a banner day for Teamsters Local 2010, both of our bills passed their legislative chambers on unanimous votes!

The payroll fairness bill (SB 698), which we are co-sponsoring with our sister Union UAW, passed the Senate 37-0! SB 698 clarifies that University of California is not above the law and must pay workers properly and on time.  The bill to restore step increases at CSU (AB 369), which we are co-sponsoring with our sister Union CSUEU, passed the Assembly 52-0!  Now both bills move to the other legislative chamber and then, if passed, to the Governor for his signature.

“This is Teamster power in action,” said Jason Rabinowitz, Local 2010 Secretary-Treasurer. “Our members will keep on pushing to get these bills passed and signed by the Governor, so we can win some fairness for working people.”

Our hard work and very successful Lobby Days are paying off.  We have built support in the legislature, but we need to keep the pressure on and ensure these bills make it to the Governor’s desk, and that he signs them.

We are asking all members to share with Governor Newsom how UC and CSU’s refusal to pay workers properly affects you and your family and to urge him to sign AB 369 and SB 698 by using the contact information below. Thank you!
