K6 Skilled Trades Bargaining Update Dec. 15-16, 2025

On Monday, Dec. 15, our Teamsters Bargaining Team did not meet with management but spent the day in caucus session reviewing and writing contract proposals. On Tuesday, Dec. 16, Teamsters and UCSD exchanged the following proposals.

Article 5 Nondiscrimination in Employment
Article 15 Military Leave
Article 20 Subcontracting
Article 26 Uniforms
Article 27 Parking
Article 28 Mileage Reimbursement
Article 31 Reasonable Accommodation/Rehabilitation
Article 38 No Strike No Lockouts
Article 41 Shift Differential

Teamsters and UCSD Management did not reach any Tentative Agreements during this bargaining session.

Articles Discussed:

Article 5 Nondiscrimination in Employment (Proposed by UCSD)
Article 15 Military Leave (Proposed by UCSD)

Article 31 Reasonable Accommodation/Rehabilitation (Proposed by UCSD)

For the articles above, UCSD proposed clean-up language that will update current language to stay consistent with Federal and State Laws. Our Union attorney will review these language changes.

Article 20 Subcontracting (Proposed by Teamsters)

Our team proposed contingency language to assure that if any financial threshold increase to the California Education Labor Code “Stull Act” is changed, then Article 20 Subcontracting financial threshold will be equally increased.

Article 26 Uniforms (Proposed by Teamsters)

Our team proposed Current Contract Language or no change to this Article.

Article 27 Parking (Proposed by Teamsters)

Teamsters proposed no parking rate increases during the life of the agreement.

Teamsters proposed that K6 skilled trades will not be personally responsible for parking tickets or fines incurred when utilizing a work vehicle while performing work duties.

Article 28 Mileage Reimbursement (Proposed by Teamsters)

Our team proposed Current Contract Language or no change to this Article.

Article 38 No Strike No Lockouts (Proposed by Teamsters)

Teamsters proposed contract language to reduce restrictions of union members to participate in all strikes while in contract, and to also limit the employers ability to cause discharge and disciplinary actions.

Article 41 Shift Differential (Proposed by Teamsters)

Teamsters proposed increases to all shift differential pay and asbestos pay. New language was also proposed to create a weekend shift differential pay.

NOTE: All Tentative Agreements (TA) made between UCSD management, and our Bargaining Team must be ratified by a majority vote of Teamsters K6 Unit Skilled Trades members during the Ratification Vote at the conclusion of bargaining.

Our next negotiations with UCSD are scheduled for January 5-6, 2026 and January 22-23, 2026.
