K3 Teamsters Hold Strong at the Bargaining Table!

On June 11 and 12, our UC Davis Skilled Trades Teamsters Bargaining Team sat down with UC Davis to continue negotiations for our K3 successor contract. Our member-elected Bargaining Team is committed to fighting hard for the fair wages and benefits every Teamsters work deserves!

Our team reached two tentative agreements with UC Davis, on Article 10 – Grievance Procedures and Article 4 – Bereavement Leave. Our new Article 10 language speeds up the grievance process for workers fighting back against contract violations and our agreement on Article 4 preserves the greater bereavement leave benefit that K3 workers enjoy, as compared to other UC workers. Our Team also maintained out $10 cap on parking increases—a major win for workers as UC hikes parking rates across the state!

“I have been with the University over 30 years. This is my second go-round as a Bargaining Team member for the Teamsters K3 Unit Contract. With the help of our former and current Teamsters Bargaining Team I have been able to secure a stronger retirement. I am saddened to report that this will be last session as a Bargaining Team member, but I am also glad to inform the membership that I will be retiring this month. It was an honor to represent the membership.”

During our sessions, the UC proposed language on the following articles:

  • Article 2 – Arbitration Procedures
  • Article 4 – Bereavement
  • Article 11 – Health Safety
  • Article 12 – Holidays
  • Article 6 – Performance Evaluation
  • Article 28 – Positions and Appointments
  • Article 30 – Promotions and Transfers
  • Appendix E – Safety Shoe Reimbursement

Our Teamsters Bargaining Team proposed language on the following articles:

  • Article 38 – Strike and Lock Outs
  • Article XXX (new) – Work Force Technology
  • Article 2 – Arbitrations Procedures
  • Article 10 – Grievance Procedure
  • Article 12 – Holidays

Our Team and the UC reached Tentative Agreements on the following articles:

  • Article 10 – Grievance Procedures
  • Article 4 – Bereavement Leave

Our next bargaining sessions will be held on July 10, 17, 22, and 23. We hope to present our economics proposal in one of our July sessions.
