This June Teamsters Local 2010 welcomed two new members to our team. Karen Paredes-Tupper as the UC San Diego Union Representative for our members of the Clerical Unit on June 1 and Aimee Baror as our new Communications Director on June 17.
Karen has worked with public sector unions for more than 10 years with experience in organizing, representation, contract enforcement, and negotiations. She is a proud native San Diegan and is passionate about building a strong union by empowering workers, especially women and people of color.
Aimee has 25 years of experience in communications, marketing, and event planning. She has received numerous awards for her writing and design, including Best Press Release and Best Program for a Special Event from the Public Relations Society of America, Central California Region. Prior to joining Teamsters 2010, Baror ran her own small business, Tinkerfly Marketing & Events. Through this business, she created a signature event that combines crafting and stand-up comedy, called Comedy of Art. She served as Communications Director for a Southern California nurses union for eight years. She also previously served as assistant editor of a city magazine, promoted film making and tourism for California’s third-largest county, and wrote and edited articles for a California daily newspaper. Baror studied journalism at California State University, Fresno and Bakersfield College.
