Library Professional 3s and 4s Bargaining Prep Town Hall

Monday, June 27

12:00 PM PDT

As a result of a recent ruling by the State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), work performed by the Library Professional 3 and Library Professional 4 share a community of interest with the CX Bargaining Unit and are now covered by the current contract as represented by Teamsters Local 2010. Now that you are represented, your wages, hours and working conditions will be negotiated through the collective bargaining process. The CX contract is set to expire June 30, 2022, and successor negotiations are already underway.

Approximately 90 Library Professional 3 and 4 workers at University of California campuses and medical centers across the state will immediately begin to receive collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration, layoff seniority and preferential rehire rights, as well as contracted benefits and workplace protections provided through our CX Contract.

Wage tables and pay step placement now need to be bargained for these accreted titles with UC Labor Relations, with that process scheduled to begin in July 2022. Our Union will conduct a bargaining survey to formulate our pay proposals and assemble a Bargaining Team comprised of members and Union Representatives. Make your voice heard—we want to know your concerns and priorities through this survey. All LP3s and LP4s are encouraged to sign a membership application today so you can participate in this process, and we can show the support of the members while we bargain.

Only Union members may participate in the negotiations process, including bargaining surveys, Bargaining Team elections, and ratifying our wages and step structure. Union dues for AO2 members will not be deducted until negotiations are complete and we ratify the new wage scales.

Together, we will work hard to win fair wages, benefits, and working conditions. We welcome your participation, first, by becoming a member of our Union. As a full voting member, you will have a say in your contract and in decisions about how our Union operates. You will have the ability to serve fellow Union members by becoming a steward, Bargaining Team member and/or Union delegate. You can make a difference!

If you cannot make it to the meeting, please contact your Union Representative for next steps.
