UCLA Health: Missing your COVID Retention Payment? Tell us now!

Teamsters are fighting on all fronts to get UCLA to issue state-funded COVID retention payments for medical center workers immediately. We have submitted a letter to the UC demanding they provide information on which CX members were excluded from state COVID retention payments, why they were excluded, how UCOP discussed workers’ payment eligibility with UC Medical Centers, and, of course, when workers can expect payment.

The fact that so many CX workers who are eligible for payments have still not received them is an insult by the UC and disrespectful of our work during the pandemic!

If you’re still missing your state-funded COVID retention bonus, contact your Union Rep here!

The COVID retention payment program was created by state law in June 2022 to stabilize and retain California healthcare workers who continue to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

Per state law, every CX Teamster who worked at least 100 hours on-site at a UC hospital system between July 30, 2022 and October 28, 2022 and continued to work on-site through November 28, 2022 is eligible for a state-funded COVID retention payment.

Secretary-Treasurer Jason Rabinowitz and President Catherine Cobb blasted the UC’s shoddy handling of the bonuses to the UC Board of Regents during their meeting last week. “We urge UC to properly staff payroll and take every necessary measure in order to make sure our members are paid on time,” Secretary-Treasurer Rabinowitz told the Regents.
