Open Enrollment Information for UCD Teamsters

The University will increase healthcare premiums Jan. 1, 2024, for the plans available to UC employees. However, our Teamsters contract for members of the UC Davis K3 Skilled Trades bargaining unit does not allow an increase of more than $25 per month or $300 total per year. Your share of your premium depends on your full-time salary rate as of Jan. 1, 2023, the plan you choose, your level of coverage, and your location.

For those in pay bands one and two, the cost savings K3 Unit members will see due to our Union contract range from $6.57 a month and $78.84 over the year, to $319.73 a month and $3,836.76 over the year. Non-Union UCD workers will pay the full amount of the healthcare premium increases.

Open enrollment runs from Oct. 25 to Nov. 17, and employees may choose a different plan to reduce costs or change provider, if desired.

When these changes are implemented starting Jan. 1, please check your paystub carefully to ensure that no more than an additional $25 per month is being deducted from your paycheck for health benefits.

Our Teamsters Bargaining Team fought for these cost increase protections for UCD Skilled Trades workers and now it’s our turn to ensure that our contract is followed and enforced.

Our Union team encourages everyone to become a member so that we have the resources to continue to negotiate strong contracts. With the healthcare cap language that our Bargaining Team negotiated for the K3 Unit, workers are saving hundreds of dollars a year, which means more money in your pocket. We thank those who have become members already and we ask those who have not to do their part by becoming members.

Union Representative Jose Fuentes can help answer questions regarding the changes and ensure that your rights under our contract are followed throughout the process.

More detailed information regarding the changes and details on rate increases for all salary levels is available here.

If you have questions that are not addressed on the UC information linked above, please contact our Union Representatives.
