Celebrate Worker Power on May Day!

Workers Rise on May Day!

Monday is May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, a global day of celebration for workers, unions, and the international labor movement that unites us all. May 1 was chosen to celebrate workers in memory of the Haymarket Massacre in Chicago in 1886, and the Union leaders who gave their lives in the fight for the eight-hour workday. On May Day, we celebrate our movement’s victories, like the five-day workweek and minimum wage, and build power and solidarity for all the fights to come.

Check out the list below of major May Day events happening in California this year. By standing together, we show our strength and our commitment to an economy that’s fair for all!

For our CSU brothers and sisters in Southern California, Teamsters 2010 is joining CSUEU, CFA, APC, and other campus unions on Monday at noon to rally for real wages and benefits at five CSU campuses. Many CSU unions are in bargaining with CSU leadership this year, and all of us are fighting for good jobs and fair pay. Together, our solidarity is unbeatable!
