Workers Reject Bigotry and Racism
Dear UC Teamster,
Teamsters Local 2010 condemns the ugly message of hatred, and the horrific acts of violence, committed by white supremacist organizations in Charlottesville, Virginia, and elsewhere in our country, in the past few days. We call on all Union members, all working people, and all people of good will, to come together against bigotry and division, and for equal rights and justice for all people in our great country.

Racism and bigotry are the antithesis of everything that our Union movement stands for. The labor movement is founded on solidarity -- working people of all races and nationalities standing together for what is right. Racism is not only morally reprehensible, it weakens workers by turning us against each other, when we need to be united to win victories.

We need unity at this moment more than ever before. Working people and our Unions are under attack by greedy corporations and billionaires who have rigged the economy to benefit themselves, at the expense of those whose work makes our country run.

In Teamsters Local 2010, we are proud to be one of the most diverse labor unions in the country, from our rank-and-file membership up to the top leadership. We are proud to be affiliated with an International Union that has, since its founding, rejected discrimination and segregation, and enshrined non-discrimination in its constitution.

In this difficult moment, working people must come together against these deplorable acts of racist violence, and also in favor of a real agenda for good jobs, union rights, and a fair economy for all.

In Solidarity,

Jason Rabinowitz            Catherine Cobb
